Research on Building Decarbonization from Top-down and Bottom-up Perspectives

Abstract

This presentation introduces recent research work on building decarbonization conducted by our research group, employing both macro (top-down) and micro (bottom-up) perspectives. We utilize an integrative methodology combining the IPAT model, scenario analysis, prototype building models, and sensitivity analysis, while incorporating a life cycle perspective with a focus on dynamic grid emission factors. The presentation draws from our recently published papers on building decarbonization strategies. By integrating these methods, we aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of the complex factors influencing building-related carbon emissions and potential pathways for reduction.
