Student working on mechanical systems of building

Building Mechanical Systems

Research in building mechanical systems deals with issues of indoor environment quality as it is affected by heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning systems and the thermal design of the building envelope. Research provides responses to changing conditions of energy supply, environmental factors, and technological developments for the continual development of new solutions. Research in building mechanical systems includes:

  • Innovative ventilation control methods and indoor air quality
  • Envelope leakage and transmission characteristics of buildings
  • Performance of central chilled water plants with thermal storage
