Scholarships and Awards

The Department of Architectural Engineering (AE) is pleased to announce the Scholarship Program for the 2023-24 academic year. To apply, a student must submit a scholarship application form via the College of Engineering scholarship application portal. The portal to accept applications will open on January 17, 2023Scholarships are available for all students currently in AE or those intending to enroll in AE within the 2023-24 academic year. Scholarships are open to all AE disciplinary options (construction, lighting/electrical, mechanical, structural). While scholarships are available for students in any year of the program (current first-year students – fourth-year students), many of the scholarships are targeted towards current third- and fourth-year students as they are discipline specific.

You must also fill out a form at University Financial Aid Services to be eligible for any University, college, or AE scholarships with a financial aid requirement.

Usually, the only form that needs to be completed is the standard Free Application for Federal Student Aid (please check with the Penn State Financial Aid office in 314 Shields Building for University financial aid deadlines on this form.) The application form is also available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov

Requirements for receiving scholarships vary but include several factors such as academic performance, financial need, residence requirements, AE option, leadership experiences, honors, extra-curricular activities, etc.  Several are merit-based which includes academic performance, experience, professional activity, etc.

Students are also encouraged to watch and respond to scholarship announcements that may be coming from individual sponsoring companies.

All AE students, particularly those in the first three years, are also encouraged to apply for scholarships through the University Financial Aid Office as there are several general scholarships available at the University and college level that are not processed through the AE department committee.
